The
Franklin silver half dollar series, issued from 1948 through
1963. was minted in honor of Benjamin Franklin - statesman,
diplomat scientist, inventor, printer, publisher, ... and
one of America's most respected and accomplished founding
fathers.
Designed
by US Mint Chief Engraver John R. Sinnock, the coin features
a classic profile of Franklin facing to the right on the
obverse, whilre the reverse depicts Philadelphia's famous
Liberty Bell. Like Franklin, it too is closely associated
with the American Revolution and the founding of the United
States of America, |
